Crystal Dawn Parsons
Crystal Dawn Parsons has been working and learning in the entertainment industry since 1998. After graduating from Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in 2002 with a BFA in Acting, she tried her hand at making it in Toronto but the dream was short lived after she had to return home to be with her terminally ill mother. After the passing of her beloved mother Ruby, she opened a theatre company dedicated with the name, “The Ruby Theatre”. The theatre ran for two years in St. Lunaire-Griquet, which showcased Newfoundland work & talent. She had the privilege of directing Isle of Deamons by Robert Chafe, and The Fisherman’s Revenge by Michael Cook.
Following the close of The Ruby Theatre work lead Crystal to Stage Management positions with Theatre Newfoundland & Labrador, The Grand Bank Regional Theatre Festival and The Resource Center For The Arts.
Crystal has been slowly making her way into the film industry with the hopes of becoming a director; as she has an emerging filmmaker blossoming from her film experience behind the camera. This interest and discovery were first formed while taking film classes at NIFCO.
Her premier film Be Good Be Nice was made under the First Time Filmmaker Program and The Super 8 mm workshop which allowed her to make her second film, Bluegrass Asshole; both generated during her time with NIFCO.
Currently she is living and working out of St. John’s and her love and passion for theatre has not waned despite her focus on film. Over the years Crystal has had the privilege of Acting, Directing, Designing, Stage Managing & Production Assisting with hopes to keep her creative talent and skills afresh in the many facets of both industries.
